If Game Cam / Game Cam Lite doesn't work (creates 2kb videos, crashes, can't record, can't view videos, etc.) the cause is almost always the Windows Media CODECS DID NOT INSTALL PROPERLY
or OUTDATED VIDEO DRIVERS are installed.
Follow these five steps to start the troubleshooting procedure.

Step #1) Reinstall the Microsoft Wmpcdcs8.exe codec package
When you get to the Windows Media Component Setup,
select Reinstall all components

Step#2) Install current video card drivers. This is extremely important.

Step#3) Only the REGISTERED (paid) versions of Game Cam / Game Cam Lite can record in game audio. For a full feature list, please see the

Third party voice programs (TeamSpeak / Ventrilo) are NOT supported
and can cause lag that will result in out of sync and corrupt videos.

Step# 4) Anti cheat programs can incorrectly see
Game Cam / Game Cam Lite as a cheat or a hacking tool.
There is nothing that we can do about this.
Examples: PunkBuster, nProtect Game Guard, Xtrap, DMW 3, etc.
**games that use nProtect Game Guard: Soldier Front, MU Online, Silk Road, Maple Story, Risk Your Life, Rakion, Flyff and many others **

Step#5) If the first four steps didn't help/don't apply, then you
MUST provide system information in your post with a
DxDiag.txt using the Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
This is how to run the tool:

Start > Run... > dxdiag > OK > Save All Information...

Open the DxDiag.txt with Notepad and then copy
and paste the entire text file into your post.

Troubleshooting is practically impossible without this information, as the
DxDiag.txt shows all the drivers and codecs that are installed on the computer!
